"My Sister's Keeper"

I just finished reading this book by Jodi Picoult and it is fucking amazing! I cry in movies very easily but a book rreally has to take hold of me for it to have such an emotional impact and the last 2 chapters of this book had me balling my eyes out. Marty was surprised, he was just doing his thing on You Tube (his new favorite thing is you tube) and he looks up to see me crying and sobbing and saying how sad the book was.

This is the 4th title I have read by this talented author (The Tenth Circle, Nineteen Minutes, Plain Truth) and it seems with every one I read I feel like I have found a new favorite...although I doubt this one can be topped. Just the idea of parents choosing an embryo that is a match to their own daughter that has leukemia so they can use the sibling as a donor for whatever may be needed raises all kinds of ethical questions. At the age of 13 Anna is expected to donate a kidney to her sister (after years of donating, blood, bone marrow, etc) and consults with an attorney to have herself medically emancipated from her parents....knowing of course that this decision will end up killing her sister (that needs the kidney). All of Jodi's books have a twist at the end and this one is no different but she had me fooled, I was certain of what the twost would be and I was way, way, way off. Anyway, I definitely reccomend this book, and everything else by Jodi Picoult!!!

Take care,
Chanta

I was in need of a good read. I don't know how likely I am of actually getting an untranslated copy, though...

I love Jodi Picoult's books too. I too was an absolute mess at the end of this book and I very nearly ended up finishing it on a train, would have been embarassing! I am amazed that you read the same books I do as you have something of a celebrity status with me and its cool to see that you are "human" and do normal stuff as well as make really hot porn! xxx

Thanks for the tip!
